The Sweet Smell of Success
Congratulations to our very own Sweet Auburn BBQ. According to a recent poll by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Sweet Auburn BBQ is the “Best place to get barbeque in Atlanta.”
People were pretty fired up about their barbecue. And Owner, Howard Hsu and his staff showed them what it’s all about.

Classes at The Market
Preserving Now
New classes are available for online registration. Register now!
You’ll be in the center of the action, attending Beginner Canning Classes, with new options each week.
Lyn Deardoff is new to our market and has conducted three classes so far:
- July 16th Vidalia Onion Relish
- July 23rd Peach Jam
- July 30th Tomato Salsa
You can choose three products in one workshop in Canning 101 (fruits, pickles, and tomatoes) or one product with her Beginner Class.
Please register in advance by emailing Lyn so that she can bring the proper amount of supplies.
This is a hands-on class. So be prepared to chop, stir, pour, and drop your own jar in the water. When you leave, you’ll take home what you canned as well as the recipes and tips from the expert.
For more information visit: www.PreservingNow.com or Email to [email protected].
Instructor Lyn Deardorff is a 40-year canner with advanced training in Food Processing and Preservation from the University of Georgia and holds a Master Canner Certification from the Cornell University Extension Service.
Party and /Or Picnic
Planning a Party or Picnic
My friend Anita was having people over and did not have the time to spend in the kitchen, so she decided to order Smoked Fried Ribs and Creamy Mac ‘n Cheese from Sweet Auburn BBQ. With her guests bringing the salad and dessert, Anita was able to entertain and enjoy her guests with all the work done by the Market. She said “That was so easy and the food was so good.”
Here are some ideas to consider for your dinner party, picnic, or just a night off from the kitchen; from appetizer to dessert, there something for everyone. Bon appetite!

House Band
evolution
The group “evolution,” which consists of middle and high school performers, entertained the Market customers on Saturdays this summer with some wonderful jazz tunes.
The concept of evolution was born in the spring of 2016. The band actually evolved from an earlier band called INJA (Inman Jazz All-Stars). INJA was conceived by Jay Hammond, the saxophone player, as a way to bring together some of his middle school band mates for the purpose of recording an album. Proceeds from the sale of the album were to be used to support the Inman Middle School band program and a non-profit (Citizen Advocacy) located in the Candler Park (Atlanta, Ga) neighborhood.
In the wake of his positive experience with INJA, Jay continued his successful collaboration with Arneesa Woods, music director at Inman Middle School. The two of them, along with Max Seldes, drummer from INJA, invited three other talented young musicians to join their current adventure; which has become evolution.
Manager’s Message
Every Day is a New Day
One of my favorite things about the market is its ever-changing vibe. There’s always something new and fresh happening, a new featured variety from one of the eateries, or a “Pop-Up” vendor offering their wares from a table set near the entrance.
This month, we will officially welcome our newest restaurant, Three Cities Pizza. Owner and chef, Tony Accurso, brought his management and marketing skills to us less than a year ago when he took over the original Grindhouse Killer Burgers.
Under his leadership the popular lunch spot has boomed. Tony is always looking for new ideas and ways to make his business better. Having met the challenge of improving on an almost perfect spot, he decided to move on to pizza.
During his youth, he worked steadily in a pizza restaurant in Detroit. Once he entered the corporate world, he brought his love of the art home and treated family and friends to fresh pizzas, including the theatrical toss of the dough.
His concept, three cities, refers to three styles; New York, Chicago, and Detroit. Each one is unique and delectable. His menu includes a meatball sandwich, an out of this world veggie Panini, and fresh salads. There’s something for every appetite.
Not in the mood to cook tonight, stop in and grab a “Take and Bake” on your way home.
Look for an opening in late August or early September.
